Betty K. Lavender, age 88, passed away on May 4, 2018. Born in 1929 in Charleston, WV, she was the daughter of the late David and Mary Kahn, and the widow of the late H. Jerry Lavender, Jr., who passed away in 1970. She was also predeceased by her sister, Henrietta, and her brother, Erwin.

She was a graduate of Ohio University, and after living in New England, she lived in Rochester, NY for many years before moving to Virginia Beach, VA. Betty was a strong, independent, loving woman who raised 4 children, and went on to have an administrative career, culminating as head administrator for a senior living facility in Virginia Beach. She enjoyed singing and music, dancing, art and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her four children: Sharon Lavender Ward (Michael), Martha Green (Bruce), Steven Lavender (Rachel), and Susan Lavender Fornara (Chris). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
