Bryan Douglas Rose, 56, of Gloucester, passed away on December 8, 2024, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 27, 1968, Bryan was known for his hilarious and quick-witted personality. He was a dedicated member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) for Gloucester County.

Bryan attended Frederick Military Academy before graduating from Broad Run High School. Following his service in the U.S. Army, he began his professional career as a surveyor, excelling as a survey party chief. He later transitioned into a career as a CDL truck driver.

Bryan was a passionate hunter who loved the outdoors and had a deep interest in history and firearms.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Leigh Rose; stepmother, Judy Buffington; siblings: Blake Rose (Rena), Jennifer Fegan (Jeff), and David Cole (Julia); children: Jessica Harper (David), Shannan McMullen (Brandon), and Brittany Sullivan; grandchildren: Leighann Carpender (Richie), Joey Harper, and Dahlia, Carter, and Owynn McMullen; and a great-granddaughter on the way. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bryan was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Rose; father, Fred Rose; and biological father, Charles Buffington III.

A service to celebrate Bryan’s life will be held at 1 PM on December 21, 2024, at Abingdon Episcopal Church in Gloucester, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, and to honor his commitment to community service, donations may be made to Connected Communities, a local nonprofit providing resources and support services to individuals and the community.
