I am so sorry to hear about Tommy. We played against each other in High School as he was at FC and I was at Cox. We did play together for several years at Trant Field playing Pony and Colt. While we were not on the same teams, we hooked up for the All-Stars. He was not only an exceptional athlete, he was an exceptional person. I am proud to say I knew and played with Tommy for many years. Prayers and thoughts are with the family.
To the family of Tommy Atkinson,
Tommy and Ricky grew up together.
Tommy supplied uniforms for Virginia Beach Little League for decades.
I was with Ricky on some occasions to be in Tommy's store to meet him.
He is remembered as such a friendly guy with nice manners by me.
I had a card to send, so I will send it to here and hope you get it.
Had just gotten my laptop back...
Ricky met Tommy in Heaven; I am sure.

Tommy, you surely will be missed but I know you are in a better place now looking down on us. Not only were you a good friend and neighbor, but you left me many fond childhood memories playing football in front of your house as well as playing pool in your parent's garage. It was also great building the 9th grade First Colonial High School Homecoming Float. Keith Ellis
Tommy Atkinson was such a great guy and will be missed by so many. The VA Legends organization sends our deepest condolences to Judy and his family!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Tommy was a good human being
I remember playing baseball in his yard on Bray Road back in the 60's. We had a blast on our Vegas softball tournament in 84 with great teammates. Tommy's infectious smile and laugh will always be with me. A brother gone way too soon.
Tommy "ACE" Atkinson & I were brothers by different mothers! He was the greatest /best all around ball player ever out of the Va. Beach area! It didn't matter football, basketball , baseball , softball you were, "The Man"! Ace rest in peace & I know you are with Carl & Edna playing ball, eating gravy biscuits! You will be truly missed! LOL
brother! The Baker Boyz's Danny aka "Shakenbake" & Ricky!

Judy, Chuck and Ken, I am so sorry for your loss. Tommy "Ace" as he was known on the baseball field was a one-of-a-kind ball player. I enjoyed watching him play when I was a teenager and later playing softball on the same team at Willey's Sporting Goods. Tommy was the first employee my dad hired at the store. He was a great person and friend to so many folks in the community. You all are in our prayers,
Judy and family,
Wishing you peace, comfort, courage and unwavering support at this time of sorrow.

Judy, MaryAnn & I send our sincere condolences for your loss of Tommy. He was a great neighbor. Ed
I've known Tommy since the days that he worked at Willey's Sporting Goods in the Princess Anne Plaza and i've always enjoyed dropping in his and Judy's shop to say "Hi". Tommy is a legend in the sports community here and i will miss his quick smile and kind demeanor. Our hearts go out to Judy and all Tommy's friends. He was a great guy.
I have known Tommy since about 1958. He was the greatest shortstop I ever played baseball with. We were on the same softball team for a few years. I will miss my conversations with him at his store. Rest in peace old. You now will have a full team of our old friends in Heaven to place ball with.
Please accept our deepest condolences for your family's loss.
