It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carl W. Woodhouse on September 26, 2024. Carl was a retired highway inspector whose diligent work and commitment to his community left an indelible mark.
Carl had a passion for sports, dedicating many years to coaching softball and baseball, where he had the joy of coaching his daughter, granddaughter, grandsons, and great-grandchildren. Known for his playful spirit and love of animals, Carl’s sense of humor and love for his family were ever-present. A lifelong fan of the Redskins, he found immense joy in supporting his team through thick and thin.
Trained as a Marine at Parris Island, Carl carried the values of discipline, honor, and love of his country throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josiah and Edna Woodhouse; his daughter, Shirl Woodhouse; his first wife, Martha Woodhouse; and his brother, William Woodhouse.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Pat Woodhouse; his daughter, Cathy Tellefsen (Mark); stepson, Ian Allen; grandchildren, Josh Tellefsen (Kaci), Kelly Tellefsen (Mike), Eric Tellefsen, and Andrew Allen; nephew, Scott Woodhouse; six great-grandchildren; and cherished pets.
Services will be held at Calvary Assembly of God, located at 4925 Providence Road, Virginia Beach 23464, on Saturday, October 5, 2024. The family invites you to gather at 11:00 AM to pay your last respects, with the service starting at 12:00 PM and a reception to follow.
Donations can be made in Carl’s memory to the Virginia Beach Fire and Rescue, or flowers can be sent to the church. Carl’s legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community will forever be remembered.
