Virginia Beach- Caroline Justine Ward, 82, born to Carrol and Esther Hickman in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on July 6 surrounded by her loving family. Left to treasure her memories is her loving husband of 62 years, William “Bill” O. Ward and their children, Carroll R. Ward, his wife Alice, her daughters, Mary Ward Foley, husband, Timothy Foley, and Susan Marie Kemper, husband, Edward Kemper.
She leaves a legacy of 10 very special grandchildren, William “Patrick” Foley, Justine Ward, Shannon Foley Williams, husband Earl Williams (Raleigh NC), Jonathan Ward, predeceased her death, Elizabeth Kemper, Rosley “Ross” Ward, Alexandria Ward, Colten Ward, Matthew Kemper and her great grandchild, Sophia Donley.
Although an only child, Caroline acquired an enormous number of brothers and sisters from husband Bill. We are forever grateful that dad’s family welcomed mom from day one, and has always thought of her as another sister. Caroline’s very best friend, Joy Christopher, remained close for more than 45 years. She will be greatly missed by all of us. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad; a memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15th at 10:30 a.m., Great Bridge Baptist Church, 640 Battlefield Blvd S, Chesapeake, VA 23322.
