Carolyn G. Gray, 87, passed away on February 2, 2021. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Diane Payne (Ron), Robert Gray (Judy), and Richard Gray; grandchildren, Ashley DaVanzo (John), Robert Gray, Jr. (Amanda), and Holly Corcoran; and great-grandchildren, Ellie DaVanzo, Katie DaVanzo, and Addison Gray.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at The Villages of Rosemont for providing Mom a loving and caring home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. I have just learned of Carolyn's passing. I wanted to send my deepest condolences to the family. When Harry, Matthew, and I moved here in 1974, she and Bob were among the few who welcomed us and who associated with us. Had it not been for them and some other wonderful people in the Fire Department, adjustments to the city would have been far more difficult. I hope that the memories you have of her sustain you through this difficult loss. With love, Ginny

Carolyn was such a wonderful person. I met her when I went to work at the Oceanfront library where she volunteered for many years. She was a wonderful person loved by all the staff. We shared many good times, great laughs and good food. She will truly be missed. Extending prayers to the Gray family.

I am very sorry to hear about Carolyn passing away. I got to know her through the Norwegian Lady Ceremonies that Carolyn arranged for many years. Carolyn has some of us over for her famous crab cakes and corn bread. She made the best corn bread and she gave me the recipe many years ago. Right around the date she died I made her corn bread and thought about her and wondered how she was doing. My deepest condolences to her family.

We have wonderful and fond memories of Carolyn and all family from our time as neighbors many years ago. Carolyn was fun, very involved and committed to her beloved Virginia Beach and always a pleasure to be around. Sending all of you our sincerest condolences. Daryl and Sandy Nemo

Carolyn was a very special Lady , and I will cherish all the good memories I have with her,... also she will be remembered for all the work she did for organizing the celebration of THE NORWEGIAN LADY for many years. and beeing a board member of the Sister City of VB representing Norway.

Our heartfelt condolences to Carolyn's family. We had the pleasure of working with Carolyn in the ER at Beach General, where she was one of the best. Our fondest memories, however, are those times when she took us crabbing on her john-boat in Rudy Inlet. We're sure she's still catching them by the bushel in heaven! Such a wonderful person!

Carolyn was a grand lady of Virginia Beach and a wonderful neighbor in her beloved Shadowlawn. She was committed to the city and made many contributions working and volunteering. She will be remembered with love and admirations. Sincere condolences to her loving family.
