Carter Alexander Lord, 28, passed peacefully in his sleep on July 23, 2016. He was born December 7, 1987 in Norfolk. Carter attended Maury and Granby High schools, followed by Full Sail University in Florida.
In his youth, Carter was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, an experience that he carried with him proudly. His passion for music led him to The Rhythm Project, with the Virginia International Arts Festival where he realized a talent for the steel drums and played in numerous International Tattoos, concerts and Panoramas with great artists like Andy Narell and Ellie Mannette. Most recently, Carter operated his own landscaping business while maintaining his love for music producing beats.
Carter is survived by his loving mother, Ruth Hall and her significant other, Carter’s mentor, Joe Vaccaro, his father William Lord, sister Kimberly (Broussard) Brown and her husband Clyde; brothers Joshua Broussard and Taylor Lord; paternal grandmother, Isabelle Hallam; nephews, Antoine Jr. and Christopher Prince; aunt Jeri Brand; uncles Floyd, David, Larry and Kenny Hall; numerous cousins, his best friend Jonathan Saunders and, most importantly, his four-legged children – Esco and Coco.
Boisterous, confident, and always unconventional, Carter’s unique style ensured his place always in the minds of those who knew and loved him. He was a gentle giant with a huge heart.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, August 9th at 2:00 pm at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge located at 110 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA. The family of his mother, Ruth Hall, requests that guests join them after the service for light refreshments.
