She was born in Phoebus, VA in 1921 and remained in Hampton and Newport News for the rest of her life. Her latest home was Warwick Forest in Newport News. The family greatly appreciates the fine job Warwick Forest did in caring for Miss Kitty. We would also like to thank Earl Roby for all the ways he helped our family.
She is preceded to Heaven by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert M. DeWees, Sr. She is survived by her children, Robert Jr. and Katie DeWees, and daughter-in-law Carole. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan and and Troy and great-grandchildren Ben, Jack, Olivia, and Emma DeWees. She loved, and was loved by all.
She was a long-time member of Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church to which she gave many hours of faithful service as a choir member and Sunday School Superintendent. She also worked at Fort Monroe, Fort Eustis, Warwick High School, and the College of William and Mary.
Catherine is remembered by her children as a loving mother who gave all she could to improve their lives in so many ways. She is loved by them and will be missed! We were blessed!

A Special Person, Lady, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother; Lord Jesus, please, please take good care of her, Amen.
A memorial service will be held at Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church, 38 Hopes Rd., Newport News, VA, on Friday, January 23 at 11:00am.
