Catherine McCullom, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, in Chesapeake, Virginia. Born on August 12, 1960, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Cathy lived a life filled with love, dedication, and cherished moments.
Cathy spent over 35 years working as a hospital coordinator, devoting herself to the care and well-being of others. Her commitment to her profession was unwavering, making a positive impact on the lives of countless patients and their families.
Outside of work, Cathy found joy in various interests and activities. She loved spending time at the beach, enjoying the soothing sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun. Boating and camping were passions she shared with her loved ones, creating lasting memories amidst the beauty of nature. Cathy also held a special place in her heart for the mountains, finding solace and tranquility in their grandeur.
Above all, Cathy was a devoted family woman. The moments she shared with her husband, Jim, were filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Her son, Ryan, and daughter-in-law, Emily, brought immense joy to her life, and the arrival of her grandson, Cash, brought an added level of happiness that overflowed her heart. Cathy treasured every opportunity to spend time with her family, creating cherished memories that will forever be held dear.
Cathy leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. She is preceded in death by her father, Benny Bryant, and sister, Cindy Summer. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim, her son, Ryan, daughter-in-law, Emily, and grandson, Cash. Her mother, Joyce Bryant, and Joyce’s partner, Marty West, her brother, Cliff Carroll (Sandie), sister, Christine Bowes (Ryan), and step-sister, Sheila Boyce (Steve), also mourn her loss.
A celebration of Cathy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 27th from 12 pm to 4 pm at 1501 Cahoon Parkway in Chesapeake, Virginia. It will serve as a time for family and friends to come together, share memories, and find solace in each other’s company.
In Cathy’s honor, may we remember the joy she brought into our lives and continue to spread love and kindness to those around us. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
