Cathleen Emily Elliott O’Neill , age 63, was carried home to the Lord on January 13, 2022. She was born in Richmond, Va., to Patricia Furlong Elliott and to the late Joseph William Elliott. Cathy went to Christ Church School in Saluda and graduated with Honors from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Richmond, Va. Cathy was an accomplished and dedicated critical care, operating room and post-surgical nurse. Her nursing experience and training prepared her for her highest calling in caring for her late father, Joseph; mother, Patricia; husband, Mark; and many other family and friends. She found the most joy in spending time with her closest family, three daughters and playing with her grandchildren. She was a member of Christ Church Episcopal Church in Mathews, Va.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Mark; mother, Patricia; daughters, Elizabeth Perkins and husband, William, Juliana Burgess and husband, Tyler, Emily Sumner and husband, Roi; brothers, Jeffery Elliott, Gregory Elliott and wife, Christine; grandchildren, Henry, Tucker, Eliza Jane, Aya, Charles, Easton, Toji; former husband, Anthony Sumner and wife, Amy; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She will be profoundly missed but comfort lies in knowing she is at peace in heaven with her beloved father, Jo Jo.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Episcopal Church on Williams Warf Road in Mathews, Va., on Saturday, February 5 at 2 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions, the indoor memorial service will be limited to family only. Immediately following, friends are welcome at the Christ Church adjacent cemetery for a graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Cathy’s name may be made to Kingston Episcopal Parish, P.O. Box 471, Mathews, Va. 23109.

Cremation Society of Virginia-Newport News assisted the family with arrangements.
