Virginia Beach-
Cecil Marlin Halsey, Sr. passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Bayside Hospital after a six month illness.
He was the son of the late Henry Cecil and Eva Myrtle Halsey. He was born in Washington County, NC, July 17, 1925 but lived most of his life in the Virginia Beach Area.
He retired after more than 40 years as Vice President of Pulp & Paper Mill Operations for Berkley Machine Works and Foundry Co. After his retirement he started his own company, Halsey Mechanical, Inc., in Suffolk, Va. Where he worked daily until his illness hospitalized him on Dec. 29, 2009.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Jacqueline Davis Halsey, in 1961, the mother of three of his children; two of his sisters, Louise Wheller and Mildred Emory.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marlene Fett Halsey and five children; Dr. J. Kaye Halsey of Charlottesville, C Marlin Halsey, Jr. and wife Sadie of Suffolk, Kelly E. Halsey and wife Patty of Chesapeake, Cecile M. Halsey and Tara L Savage of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Courtney, Kelly, Trevor, Kayla, Katelyn, Briana and Diana and two great-grandchildren, Colten and Chloe.
Red, as he was known was an avid quail hunter and loved his Pointer dogs.
No services are planned at the present time. The family wishes to thank Dr. E. B. Hodge, his doctor for many years and all who gave care and love during his unexpected illness at Sentara Leigh, Norfolk General, Bayside, Avada Audiology and his home away from home, River Pointe Rehab & Healthcare Center. Our care partners are too numerous to list but you know who you are and we love and thank you for each and every day you were with us.
God has called home a hardworking and loving husband, dedicated father and friend to many. Rest, Honey, until we are together once more.
