Celeste B. Gross – Virginia Beach

Celeste Bottoni Gross, 91, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away November 29 with her family by her side. Celeste was born in Whitehall, NY, she retired from the Norfolk School Board after 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Gross, her sisters Mary Varmette, Tillie Vawter and nephew Ron Vawter. She is survived by her children, Celeste Faison, husband Gee Faison, Stephanie Day, Robert Gross, wife Katherine and Janice Gross; 10 grand children, Trey and Lauren Faison, Garret and Bridgett Day, Austin, Chelsea and Corbin Gross, Rachael, Stephen and Tara Dapolito; nieces Celeste Fonda and Shelley Both. I just heard the sad news about the passing of your dear mother. How wonderful she was surrounded by her loving family not only at the end but during every stage of her care these past few years. She was truly a remarkable person to face that long and painful illness with such courage. Few people understand the resilience, strength, and courage needed to help her through this journey; as hard as it was, you were there. Your mom could not be more proud. You have lost a wonderful mother, grandmother, and many have lost a dear and loved friend. She will be missed dearly but remembered forever. I love seeing her picture and smile. Celeste, Steph, Robbie, Janice and Family, I was so sorry to hear that your beautiful mother had passed away. Her photo was a reminder of her true beauty. As I think about her, I can hear her talking to us as we passed through the house on our way to doing "who-knows-what...." She was special. She was blessed to have you care for her and be by her side during these last few years. I am sure that you were a comfort to her and to each other in a way that is like no other. Your parents and you were a very special part of my life growing up in Baylake Pines. I will always remember your mother. Although time passes and life goes on, I wish you fond memories and the comfort of a wonderful family to guide you through this difficult time.
