Virginia Beach- Charles Dilke O’Connor, Jr. “Duke”, 66, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2015 with his family by his side. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, he was the son of the late Charles O’Connor and Audrey O’Connor Petty. He is preceded in death by his son, Daniel; brother, Brian; and his step-father Cecil Petty. Duke was a 1976 graduate of Old Dominion University and served as an Officer in the US Army. He was a real estate broker with Re/Max-Alliance for more than 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and the gifts of nature. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Cindy; his loving son Charles of Virginia Beach; Aunt Helen of Atlanta; Uncle Bruce (Anita) of Chesapeake as well as cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many close friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 8th at 11:00 am at the Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach with the family receiving guests at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of the Ascension Social Justice Ministry.
