Greenville, South Carolina ~ Charles Kibby, 54, or Kibby as he was known by his friends, passed away on December 13, 2020 after a month-long battle with COVID. A man as big in heart as he was in stature (and at 6’6” that’s saying something!), Kibby left behind a legacy in every place he ever went– from his early days as a teenage rink rat in Evansville, IN, to his recent years as a youth soccer coach in Asheboro, NC.

A lover of art, some of his best and most long-lasting friendships came through his volunteer work at comic and tattoo conventions. He was always looking to make people smile, and every time he came home from a convention he had more stories, more friends, and (to the eternal exasperation of his wife) more art to adorn his body or the walls of his man cave.

More even than his appreciation of art and supernatural ability to make friends, though, Kibby was an aggressively supportive husband and father. Even on his bad days in the hospital he somehow found the energy to brag about his kids to the nurses, and he was more proud of raising them than anything else he ever did. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Tawnia, and their three children, Sarah (24), Regan (23), and Elena (12). He is also survived by his mother, Sally Tunnicliff, and three sisters, Julie Hobart, Jennifer Van Riet, and Sheree Ervin.
