Chester Alan “Chip” Alvis, 78, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025 in Chesapeake, Virginia surrounded by his family.

Chip was born February 17, 1946 to Charles and Thelma Alvis in Varina, Virginia.

Chip was a veteran of the Coast Guard and served in Vietnam then stationed in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

In addition to being predeceased by his parents, Chip was also predeceased by his sister, Sheila Priddy and his wife Alice Bolen. Left to care for his memory is his wife Jean, his step son, Aaron Curles , step daughter Cynthia Paynter and son in law Jason Paynter. Chip had three grandchildren, Chandler Paynter, Mason Curles and Landen Curles. Chip leaves behind his sister Shirley Carillo, his brother Charles Alvis and a niece Lynne Eisenstadt.

In lieu of flowers. donations may be made in his memory to the American Kidney Fund.

We are the surviving nephews of Chip Alvis since we were 6 years old when he married Alice in 1969. We have lots of good memories of him and are saddened by his recent death. Prayers and condolences for all the family.
