Christine Susan Sinclair, age 60, of Newport News, VA, better known as “Chris,” to family and friends, went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2020 after a 25-year long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Chris was born on September 15, 1959 to Kenneth “Pete” and Susan Womack in Angola, IN. The family later relocated to Avon Lake, OH where she graduated from high school with her cosmetology license. She pursued her dream to become a beautician and had a lively spirit in and out of the salon. In 1980, she wed Marc Sinclair and they welcomed their first child, Stacy Sinclair, in 1981. In 1984, they relocated to Newport News, VA where Chris continued her career as a stylist at JCPenney Salon in Hampton, VA for almost 20 years. She loved her career, her clients, and her family. Chris enjoyed cross stitching, crafting, cooking, and spending time with her family. In 1991, Marc and Chris had their second child, Matthew Sinclair. Unfortunately, in 1995, Chris was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and was forced to quit the job she loved. Throughout the years, she continued to be an incredibly strong woman and fighter. She was a great wife and mother, patient and tolerant with all the struggles God gave her. She faced not only the daily challenges of her own illness, but the mental and physical disabilities of her young son, Matthew, with Down Syndrome. As the years progressed, Chris’s physical condition worsened but her spirit remained strong. She loved to go shopping at JCPenney’s, listen to country music, watch her favorite TV shows, and be visited by her family and friends. She wanted a good cup of Folgers coffee in the morning with a Salem cigarette, and then drink her Pepsi in the afternoon. She made the best macaroni salad on the planet, and always made sure there was a large bowl in the fridge when Stacy and her friends visited on college break. The lord kept her strong, so she was able to see her daughter Stacy graduate from College in 2003, and her son graduate from High School in 2012. In the latter years she struggled with her health and mobility until the very end. She finally heard God’s call, and she answered, saying, “Please take me home, so I may no longer be in pain and suffering.”
Chris was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth “Pete” Womack.
She is survived by her mother, Susan Womack; sister, Shari Casarez, and family, husband, Marc Sinclair; daughter, Stacy Sinclair and son, Matthew Sinclair.
A private service was held for family only on April 9, 2020 at Altmeyer Funeral Home in Newport News, VA. A celebration of life will be held on September 15, 2020 to honor Christine. Details will be forthcoming.
