Claire-Anne W. Polley – Virginia Beach
Surrounded by her loving family and friends, Claire Anne Weller Polley died on October 20 at the age of 63.
A beloved mother, devoted friend, longtime teacher, and dedicated community volunteer, Claire’s warmth and laughter brought comfort and joy wherever she went.
Born in Bayshore, New York, Claire loved to use words like “joyous” to describe herself, despite the great loss of her first husband, John Weller, and her daughter Andree.
It was her strong bond to her family that enabled her to hold on long enough to meet her newest grandchild, Jackson,
Former president of the Virginia Beach Education Association, active in the Democratic Party, Baycliff Civic League, and Virginia Beach Council of Civic Organizations, the American Cancer Society and the Children’s Performance Workshop, Claire modeled by example that each person can make a difference.
Claire leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Jennifer Daniels Keith,
Mary Elizabeth Doug Mackey, and Michelle Setty Jason; her grandchildren
Stephen and Katherine Daniels and Beau and Jackson Setty; her brother Patrick Connolly Betsy, niece Kate, nephew James, and a host of good friends.
Friends are invited to join Claire’s family in celebrating her life on Friday, November 4th at 7pm at Wycliffe Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, Claire would like to be remembered by contributions to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and the Children’s Performance Workshop. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cremate.org.
