Colonel “Bee” Rhees passed away quietly in his home at Westminster Canterbury on Tuesday May 24, 2022. He was born on February 24, 1928 in Littleton, VA.

He was predeceased by his parents, William Jones Rhees and Nancy Barrett Rhees. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Frances “Franky” Beatty Rhees; sons, William “Buz” Rhees (Brenda), Richard “Rip” Rhees (Joanne) and daughter Sally Rhees Thorbjornsson (Thor); ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

His thirty year Army career consisted of numerous commendations, a combat tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam.

Bee loved all types of sports, especially golf, swimming and golf croquet. He was a loving family man and never met a stranger. Family and friends were his biggest joy in life. The family would like to thank the staff at Westminster for their dedication and caring service.

Because of Covid, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022 in the Chapel at Westminster Canterbury, 3100 Shore Dr. Virginia Beach, VA 23451 followed by a celebration of life reception.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the charity of your choice in his name.
