Newport News – Connie Marie Johnson, 78, passed away on August 21, 2020. She was born in Sussex County, Virginia to the late Elva Griffin Johnson and Emmett Morton Johnson. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth F. Johnson and Carlton M. Johnson, and a sister, Katherine J. Young (Eddie).

Connie graduated from Wakefield High School in Wakefield, Virginia in 1960 and Madison College (James Madison University) in 1964. She moved to Newport News after retiring from teaching in Fairfax County and continued to work part-time for many years.

She is survived by her brother, Keith W. Johnson; nephews, Steve Johnson, Greg Johnson, and Clarke Johnson; two nieces, Ashton Maitland (Timmy) and Lauren Nash (Ryan); two great-nieces, Lillian Maitland and Cecillia Johnson; one great-nephew Grayson Maitland; and a special friend, Ed Saunders.
