Corlett Winston Burrus Jr., 89, of Virginia Beach, Va. ascended to heaven on Sunday, June 25, 2023.  Winston was born on October 5, 1933 in Hatteras, NC.   His deceased parents Corlett Winston Burrus, Sr. and Rebecca Burrus relocated to Norfolk, Va. to start an accounting practice. The love of his life for 67 years, Donna Lane Burrus, ascended to heaven on August 4, 2021. They were Maury High School sweethearts. Winston loved the Lord, and was a member of Haygood United Methodist Church. Winston was retired C.P.A, and a partner in the Burrus, Cootes, and Burrus accounting firm. Winston was a partner in Compose, Inc. one of the first start-up companies in hospitality for touchscreen point-of-sale. Winston graduated from The College of William and Mary Norfolk Division with a B.A.B.S. in June, 1957 where he started his career teaching. He passed the board to become a C.P.A in April, 1958. He was a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. He had a passion for family, travel, boating and duck hunting.

He is survived by his children – C. Winston Burrus III, Steven Lane Burrus and daughter-in-law Lisa, and Donna Michelle Burrus. The wonderful grandchildren: Michelle B. Bradley and husband Brooks, Kristie C. Suarez and husband Lorenzo, Melissa L. Sullivan and husband Colin, Melody L. Litweller and husband Christian, Darcie A. Mausteller and husband Will. Winston is blessed to include nine precious great grandchildren with another on the way. Winston grew up in the Church where he served, and raised his family with the help of his devoted wife. A private service for the family will be held at Haygood United Methodist Church.
