Craig Thomas Lyon – Virginia Beach

Craig Thomas Lyon, 59, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 surrounded by his family from an unexpected struggle with cancer. He was born in Bethesda, Maryland on June 30, 1957.

Craig worked as a Carpenter and Machinist for many years. He loved to hunt and fish with his three sons and spent many memorable family trips at his family farm near Winchester, VA. He was an avid gamer, poker player and coin collector. He was lovingly known as “Pops” by many of his friends. He was also known as a jokester to those closest to him and always managed to get the last laugh.

His father, Hiram (Bud) Lyon, preceded Craig in death. Left to cherish his memory: his wife of 40 years, Cheryl A (Broughton) Lyon; three sons, Chad L Broughton (Melissa Jones), Nicholas H Lyon (Tonya), Craig T Lyon Jr. (Angie); five grandchildren, Hailey Lyon, Chase Lyon, Katy May Broughton, Jeffrey Jones Jr., Joshua Jones; mother, Lois (McCabe) Lyon; sister, Linda Vogelgesang (Fred).

Craig will be celebrated by his family and friends at 12PM on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Norfolk Airport Holiday Inn, 1570 North Military Highway, Norfolk, VA 23502. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be accepted on June 3rd at the Holiday Inn or they may be mailed in Craig’s name to 154 South Rosemont Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
