Cynthia Ann Maybee, 74, passed away in Va Beach on January 13, 2022. She was born on January 8, 1948 in Detroit Michigan. Cynthia is survived by her husband, James Maybee; daughter, Keely Arnold; grandson, Joseph Arnold; and her seven siblings: Rudolph Boyance Jr, Margret Robbins, Michele Levy, Kathryn Andrews, Nanette Mostaccioulo, Jeanine Satel, and Anthony Boyance. Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Juanita and Rudolph Boyance, and her son-in-law, Joe Arnold.
Cynthia was the longtime owner of Pearls Thrift Store, and she was affectionately called “Pearl” by many. Cynthia donated large amounts of time cooking for and feeding the homeless. She was also a big advocate for homeless pets. Cynthia facilitated over 70 pet adoptions, in just one year alone, by working with local shelters. She had a great love for music, art, and a passion for playing the piano. Cynthia was a dynamic soul. When someone like her passes, the hole in our universe is big.
Cynthia’s memorial service will be on Saturday, March 5, at 2:30 p.m. It will be held at Freedom Fellowship Church, 836 Regency Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. The service can also be viewed online at www.comegetfree.org. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Va Beach SPCA.
