On November 19, 2018, Cynthia S. Davenport of Suffolk, Virginia passed away peacefully at home with family by her side at the age of 61. She fought a short battle with cerebrovascular disease, but she never complained. Even during her illness, she took a keen interest in everyone she met and enjoyed conversations with old and new acquaintances alike.
Cindy was a proud mother, a devoted wife, and a loving daughter, sister and aunt. A graduate of James Madison University with a degree in Psychology, she worked in social services and at a nearby high school. Most recently, she volunteered with a local literacy program, helping a young mother master the English language as she integrated into the community.
She loved to read, write letters, and watch classic movies. Cindy also loved to be outdoors, where she enjoyed hiking, biking, birding, and working in the yard. She enjoyed traveling, particularly to the beach and to Richmond, Virginia to see her grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her husband of 33 years, Philip; her son, Ben (Sarah), and daughter, Claire (Alex). She also leaves two grandchildren to cherish her memory. We choose to remember her most for her enthusiasm and love of life, her nurturing spirit, and her thoughtfulness for all those around her.
Thank you to all the family, friends, and caregivers who helped us during the last several weeks.
