It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel J. Brooks, fondly known as “Danny,” who left this world on November 9, 2024, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. Danny passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

Danny was a man who found joy in the simplest of things. He had an infectious smile and often encouraged those around him to find reasons to smile even on the toughest days. He cherished moments spent outdoors, particularly when the weather was just right—those stormy days that brought a sense of calm he so deeply appreciated.

A music enthusiast, Danny could often be spotted driving around town, tunes playing, as he enjoyed the ride. A devoted fan of *Star Trek*, he devoted much of his time to collecting memorabilia and watching his favorite episodes, finding comfort and inspiration in the stories and characters.

Danny is predeceased by his beloved parents, Daniel Brooks and Beverlee Brooks. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Nora (CD); his sisters, Beverlee (Schmidt) and Kim; his brothers, Andrew (Heidi) and Brian; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of Danny’s life will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Norfolk on January 11, 2025, at 11:00 am, followed by a potluck reception where friends and family can gather to share memories and honor his life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Kidney Foundation in Danny’s memory.

Danny’s warmth, kindness, and zest for life will be remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, and his spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
