David Darden Dickerson, Sr., a respected attorney of the Virginia Beach community, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2021 at the age of 81 surrounded by family. He was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia where he graduated from Maury High School. He graduated from the College of William and Mary with an undergraduate degree and the Marshall Wythe School of Law. Following earning his undergraduate degree, he served as a Naval Legal Officer, ultimately becoming a Lieutenant Commander. He began his legal career first serving as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach before going into private practice in 1970. His legal practice flourished as he worked tirelessly for his clients up until his retirement in 2014. He was devoted to his family and friends. He was most proud of his sons David D. Dickerson, Jr. and Charles Meade Dickerson as well as his grandchildren, Darden E. Dickerson and David D. “Jack” Dickerson, III.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Otis Jeffers Dickerson and Alta-Lee Meade Dickerson, his brother, Rodney Dickerson, and sister Carmen Dickerson, as well as his granddaughter Emma Marie Dickerson. He is survived by his loving sons, David D. Dickerson Jr. (Elizabeth W. Dickerson), daughter in law, and Charles M. Dickerson (Rodney C. Schimko), son in law, and grandchildren, Darden Dickerson and David D. “Jack” Dickerson, III. A graveside memorial service will be held June 15, 2021 10:00a.m. at Princess Anne Memorial Park, Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach.
