David G. McBride, 82, passed away on May 4th, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and three daughters. He was born to and preceded in death by his parents, Colonel and Mrs. Dana Gray McBride, and his sister Patricia McBride Denby. David lived as a young boy in New Jersey and Vermont, and then permanently resided in Williamsburg, VA for the majority of his youth. David attended James Blair High School and The College of William and Mary where he met his wife of 58 years, Kathryn Clay McBride. David is survived by Kathy and their three daughters – Dana McBride Sterling of Williamsburg, VA; Caryn McBride Brown and her husband Paul Brown and their daughter Danika Kathryn of Raleigh, NC; and Tricia McBride Stalls and her husband Randy Stalls and their son Adam Douglas of Greenville, NC.
David is most remembered for his friendly, easy-going disposition and love of his family and his dog. Everyone knew him from walking his black labrador, Bailey, in the neighborhood and striking up conversations throughout the walks. In earlier years, David and Kathy raised their daughters in Heidelberg and Stuttgart, Germany and then in Virginia Beach, VA. He worked for and retired from the Department of the Army and the Army Corps of Engineers as a computer security specialist.
