David Senyk of Grand Ledge, Michigan, passed away peacefully of Alzheimer’s Disease on May 2, 2024, at the age of 70 in Williamsburg, Virginia. David was born July 13, 1953, in Romeo, Michigan to John and Genevieve Senyk. David spent his childhood with his siblings helping their father with the family farm. After graduating Almont High School in 1971, David went on to get his B.S. in Chemical Engineering and B.S. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from The University of Michigan. From there, David travelled the world as a leading expert in fermentation processes.
David was a devoted husband to his wife of 37 years, Mary Ann, and a loving father to their three children, Nora, Abby and Ben. David instilled in his family a love of the outdoors, hard work and Michigan football. He was passionate about gardening, birding, and cycling. David was a fiercely hard worker. He loved spending his free time in his garden with his friends and family.
David is survived by his wife; daughters; son-in-law Jordon Gaines; grandchildren, Ruby Gaines, Oliver Gaines and Luka Gaines; siblings Aileen Bement, Jack Senyk and Michael Senyk; and 16 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son in 2017.
A celebration of David’s life will be held with his family on July 13, 2024. The family asks that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
