Davidson Abraham, 72, father and husband, passed away at home surrounded by his wife and daughter on Saturday February 29, 2020 in Newport News, VA. He is preceded in death by his parents Sylvia Joseph and James Timothy as well as his son Richardson Abraham.
He was a praying man and faithful believer in Jesus Christ. He was born in Dominica and moved to the United States at the age of 19 and settled in New York. He spoke French and English very well. He also was also known as King Pepy a Calypso Singer in the early 70’s and he produced and recorded two songs: Soul Carnival and Dominica Land of Natural Beauty. During his life in New York he was known as a “jack of all trades”. He was a restaurant owner, record store owner and earned his certification in Automotive Technology and had his own garage where he was the head mechanic.
He moved to Virginia with his family in 1994. In Virginia he worked at Deerfield Correctional Center for 5 years as a Food Service Manager. He was also employed at QVC in shipping and receiving and then retired after working there for 4 years. He enjoyed meeting new people and making a friend everywhere he went and loved to make people laugh. He had many hobbies including: writing music and poems, singing, painting, cooking and carpentry.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Mary, of 47 years; daughter Felicia J. Abraham; his sons: Roderick Abraham and James Harris; grandchildren: Richardson T. Abraham, Nakayla R. Abraham, and Darius Harris; great-grandchild: Richardson T. Abraham, III.
A Celebration of Life will be held at later date. The family asks for donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) in his honor.
