Deborah Anne Walker, born on February 4, 1957, in Stony Point, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, in Hampton, Virginia, at the age of 69.
A devoted social worker with the Department of Health and Human Services, Deborah dedicated her life to helping others, offering compassion and support to countless individuals and families throughout her distinguished career. Her commitment to service was a testament to her generous spirit and unwavering dedication to the well-being of her community.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Deborah was a talented mixed media artist with a passion for jewelry making, metallurgy, and clay. Her artistic creations were a reflection of her vibrant personality and creative soul. She also found joy in singing and dancing, activities that brought happiness to both herself and those around her.
Deborah was a woman of deep faith, having been baptized Catholic and an active participant in A Course In Miracles. Her spiritual journey was marked by a profound sense of peace and understanding, which she shared with all who knew her.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her son Dana Xavier Thurmond (Clarice Holden) of Virginia; her daughter Morgan Anna Crotty (Paul Sebern) of California; and her beloved grandchildren Dana, Xavier, Samantha, Avery, and Elana. She is also survived by her brother Dwight Walker (Amy) of North Carolina, as well as her faithful companion, Meiko, a Japanese Chin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Buckroe Beach in Hampton, Virginia, at 1:00 pm on April 18, 2026. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman whose life was filled with love, creativity, and service.
Deborah Anne Walker’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
