Deena Lynn Schroder (nee Clark), known affectionately as Sam, Hon, Momma, Grandma, GiGi, Lady Di, passed away on May 18, 2024, in Hampton, Virginia, at the age of 77, while in hospice following an illness. She was surrounded by family at her passing.

She was born on December 7, 1946, in Lovilla, Iowa.

Deena (18) married Don (23) in Morrison, Il., on December 13, 1965. They almost made their 60th wedding anniversary.

Deena was a devoted wife to Don, a United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran. She was proud homemaker, and a loving mother to Malissa. She was the matriarch of the family. Together Deena and Don traveled the world. They lived in many places to include Japan, Virginia, Missouri, California and Iowa. Both Don and Deena were born and raised in Iowa, and they lived together in Pleasantville, Coralville, Tipton and Muscatine.

Deena loved crafting, decorating and shopping. She was a terrific cook preparing many family meals over the years. She enjoyed doing things for other people. She liked boating and fishing and she gardened and canned. She had a beautiful flower garden and loved watching the butterflies. She had a spark and a sense of humor that will leave many of us with wonderful memories. She will be dearly missed.

Deena was proceeded in death by her parents, father Eugene Guy Clark (Betty), a coal Miner, was from, Albia Ia., and Mother, Margaret (Peg) Ellen Edwards Dejoode (Barney, Deceased), Ia.; her brother Richard Eugene Clark (Sue), Knoxville Ia., and her young son Sean Timothy Schroder, Sterling Va.

Deena is survived by: Her beloved husband Donald Harry Schroder, childhood home of Cresco, Ia. Her sisters; Dixie Clark Ribar, Indianola Ia. and Denise Dejoode Vroegh (Lester), Knoxville Ia. Her daughter Malissa Schroder Welter (Michael). Her grandchildren, Katlynn Schroder (Joshua), Newport News, Va., and Austin Urmie (Heidi), Smithfield, Nc. Her great grandchildren, Michael Ray Haithcock, Kylie Ikoma, Jase Urmie, Kyanne Schroder-Taguba and Ashton Urmie. Her Stepson Rob Schroder and Stepdaughter Ronda Schroder Frickson (Dwyane), Iowa. Her step grandchildren Michael Schroder (Shasta), Laura Hartmann Storey (Thomas), Erica Schroder Hennings (Tony), Wayne Frickson (Shanna) and Mark Frickson (April). Step great grandchildren Aurora Frickson, Loki Frickson, Hailey Hennings, Emily Hennings, Sophia Storey, James Storey, Elizabeth Schroder and Adler Schroder. Deena had several nieces and nephews including Lisa, Lane (dec.), Michael, Christopher, Patrick, Danny, Phillip, Amy, Jess, and Kendra and their respective families.
