It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dolores Cottrell, who departed this life on June 4, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 76. Born on December 30, 1948, in Newark, New Jersey, Dolores graced this world with her kindness and unwavering dedication to her family.
Dolores spent her career as a Clerk with the Civil Service, where she exemplified diligence and commitment. Her professional life was characterized by a quiet strength and a steadfast work ethic, yet it was her role as a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother that ruly defined her spirit.
Her greatest joy was found in spending time with her family and friends, creating cherished memories filled with love and laughter. Dolores’s life was a testament to the powerful bonds of family; she prioritized her life around those she held dear, offering an endless source of support and affection.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Michael and Jane Mindzak. Dolores leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her devoted husband, Donald Cottrell; her son, John Cottrell, Sr., and his wife, Yvette Cottrell; her sister, Mary Jane Schaff; and her treasured grandchildren, John Cottrell, Jr. and Tyiesha Harris.
While Dolores may no longer be with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a life well-lived, serving as an inspiration to her family and friends.
