Donna Irene Herman, born on August 12, 1945, in Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, in Williamsburg, Virginia, at the age of 79.
Donna dedicated her life to serving others as a compassionate social worker, musician and civic leader with a career spanning California, Virginia and West Virginia. Her commitment to helping those in need was matched only by her deep love for music.
A talented musician, Donna played both the piano and handbells with grace and passion. Her involvement in the music community was extensive and impactful. She served on the board of directors for the Williamsburg Youth Orchestra and the Early Childhood Music School, as well as the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra League. She was the manager of the annual Christmas Messiah concert at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church for many years. Her leadership as President of the Williamsburg Music Club was marked by her dedication to fostering young talent. She gave scholarships to graduating high school seniors.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Freida Brandt. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Herman.
A celebration of Donna’s life will begin at 1:30 PM with a musical prelude followed by a service at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 500 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
Her legacy of kindness, service, and music will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
Gifts may be given to the endowment fund of the Early Childhood Music School at Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
