Virginia Beach- Doris Vegelahn McTague, 94, died on December 24, 2017 at her home at Westminster Canterbury in Virginia Beach, VA. Kris was born on June 17, 1923 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late August and Norma Kringel. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cdr. Norbert Vegelahn and their daughter Candance Vegelahn and her sister Ruth DeCock-Schmidt. Kris was longtime member of Old Donation Episcopal Church, where she enjoyed many volunteer hours as a Church Historian, a member of the Alter Guild and an Office Angel. Left to cherish her memory are her beautiful children Karen Bisek and her husband Craig, and Pete Vegelahn and his wife Jamie. Along with her five grandchildren, Jennifer Harrell (Chuck), Phillip White-Bisek (Jennifer), Kristen Reese (Jason), Nicole Stewart, and Canyon Sweet. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren Madison and Connor Harrell, Troy Bisek, McKenzie and Ethan White-Bisek, Liam, Evan, and Daphne Reese, and Allyson and Levi Stewart. She also leaves behind her great grand dog Cooper. A celebration of her life will be held on January 3rd at 2 PM at Old Donation Episcopal Church located at 4449 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Va. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made to the Old Donation Episcopal Church Memorial Fund or to the Westminster Canterbury Fellowship Foundation Fund. Kris asked that friends who attend the service to wear “Happy Colors”. A special thanks to all who cared for her while she was in the Hoy Center (Hospice) at Westminster Canterbury. Interment will follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
