Dorothy Merritt Vanderploeg, 80, passed away March 16th after a lengthy illness.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard W. Vanderploeg; her daughter, Sharon Withers of Virginia Beach; her grandson, Christopher Withers, his wife Stephanie and her two great grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Withers, from North Augusta, South Carolina; her brother, Gerald Merritt of Virginia Beach; her sister, Sandra Hodges and her husband Ray of Virginia Beach and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1 9th at 4pm at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 2208 Princess Anne Rd. Virginia Beach, Virginia. Pastor Chris Bowen will be officiating.
A “Celebration of Dot’s life” will be held at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cremate.org.
