Dorothy Dame, 95 of Newport News Virginia passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018. She was born on May 30, 1923 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Oscar Vernon Price, Sr. and Kate Camper Price.
Dorothy was known for being feisty, yet with a good sense of humor. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. The grandchildren and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of Dorothy’s life. Her passion for cooking, crafting, reading , and bird watching were shared not only with the grandchildren, but with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was very active and loved being outdoors, watching baseball games, playing at the creek, fishing on the river, and walking on the beach.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Frank S. Dame, Sr.; son, Frank S. Dame, Jr.; daughter, Joyce D. Gillingham and siblings, Viola Gray, Clarence Price,Thelma Schultz, O.V. Price, Doris Wood, Leo Price, Violet Wrenn, Robert Price, Howard Price and Barbara Green
Left to cherish her loving memories are her daughter-in-law, Charlene Dame; two sons, John Dame (Susan) and Robert Dame (Elizabeth); daughter, Bonnie Dame; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Blankenship; sister-law, Laura Price and a host of extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018 at World Outreach Center, 1233 Shields Road, Newport News , Virginia.
A gathering of friends and family will be held following the service.
