Douglas Neil Tippett, 63, passed away after a brief illness on June 23, 2020 in Newport News. Douglas leaves behind his mother, Mary Pat Tippett; girlfriend of twenty-two years, Deanna Leigh Huhak; a sister, Mary Tippett-Derby (Daniel); children, Cynthia Leann Morris, Mary Beth Johnson (Anna) and, David Neal Tippett; grandchildren, Tessa Morris, Owen Morris, Tristan Tippett, and, Lucas Johnson. Douglas also leaves behind two nieces, Diane Butcher and Cathryn Anderson; two great nephews, Justin Cummings and Harris Anderson; and three great nieces, Madalyn Cummings, Camillia Anderson, and, Cecilia Anderson. Doug was part of the “3 Musketeers” along with Mike McCluney, Chuck Merrill and, friend, Terry Ferguson.
Doug was a jack of all trades. He was self-employed and worked in construction, painting, and house building. He even worked on tugboats. He drove tractor trailers for twenty-three years. Fun fact: Doug even transported race cars for Nascar driver, Richard Petty.
Doug was a dog lover, the #1 Steelers fan, and, also a huge fan of drag racing and Nascar. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, fixing cars, baseball, and playing guitar. He also did sound and lights for the band “The Clue”.
Douglas will be dearly missed by his friends and family. His family would like to give special thanks to his wonderful hospice nurses especially nurse D., nurse Denise, social worker Angela and all clergies.
