Early L. Mitchell III, passed away on August 30, 2024, with his (doll) daughter, Darlene, by his side. Early was born in Newport News to the late Early, Jr. and Helen Mitchell.
Early III was a graduate of Newport News School where he later joined the United States Army in 1970 and honorably discharged in 1971. He later worked at the Naval Weapons station in Yorktown, VA.
Early married the love of his life Emmaline, on October 27, 1990. He became a member of the Jehovah’s Witness. He loved his brothers and enjoyed daily fellowship with them. He loved outings, especially breakfast with his daughter at The Cock-Eyed Rooster.
He was a proud husband, father, brother and granddad (PopPop) who will be loved and missed but never forgotten.
He is survived by his daughters, Darlene L. Mitchell and Jacinta Cooke and his son, Howard N. Cooke; his sisters, Bernice Whitaker (Casper), Mamie R. Jones (Benjamin), Helen Mitchell and Jeanette Choudhari. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Arriyah M. Mitchell, Serenity M. Mitchell, Jiara Alston, Terry Alston, Gregory Alston, Akeen Hicks, Janiah Cooke, DeShawn Bandy and Jelen Bandy, a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and spiritual brothers and sisters and best friends.
A memorial service will be held on September 9, 2024 at 11am at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 717 Little Back River Rd. Hampton, VA 23669.
