Edna Diklich O’Brien, 92, peacefully passed away February 28. She was born in Risca, South Wales, Great Britain April 19, 1925. She was a 1946 graduate of Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, PA, a member of Portsmouth Academy of Medicine Alliance and an active member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Portsmouth. She loved helping people and spent most of her life volunteering at Navy Relief and her church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Milan Diklich, Jr., second husband, Dr. David C. O’Brien, and a step great grandson Christopher Michael Morris, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Lynda Diklich Leigh (Southgate) and Milan Thomas Diklich; 3 step children; Patricia O’Brien Morris, Michaelia O’Brien Hood (Greg), and David Francis O’Brien (Pam); 3 granddaughters, Amy Leigh Seiters (Jeffrey), Kathryn Leigh West (Nathaniel), Jennifer Travers Leigh, and 7 great grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren, Leslie Morgan Morris, Brian King Morris (Lori), Christopher Michael Morris (Grayson), Karen Monk (Phillip), Paul O’Brien (Savannah), Jennifer Thompson (Erik), Kelly Lee (Eric) and 7 step great grandchildren. The family would like to recognize and thank the staff of Province Place Maryview, The Crossings at Harbour View, and Interim Hospice for their care, support and love.
A private family gathering in celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Portsmouth, VA. or the SPCA of Portsmouth, VA.
