Edward Benjamin Hughes, III

Edward B. Hughes, III passed away on September 2, 2020. He was from Warren, Ohio, born to Helen and Edward Hughes, Jr. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Brian Hughes; sisters, Cindy, Mary Jo, and Helen Marie.

In the early 80’s, Edward served in the U.S. Army. He also drove for Associated Cabs for many years. After leaving Associated Cabs, he worked for Walmart (1773), where he played Santa Claus during the holidays. In 1989, he married the love of his life, Frances. They were married for 31 years.

Left to cherish his memory are Edward Hughes, IV (Eddie) and Michael Jones (Jennifer); his sister, Gladys Trumbull (Dave) of Ohio; Joseph Hughes (Joy) of Delaware; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and his furry companion, Brownie.

The family would like to thank the Hampton VA Hospital, Sentara Careplex, Hampton and Riverside Hospital, Newport News for all the care that was given. The family would also like to thank his nurses who cared for him while he was at home: Jen, Christa and Tracy.

Frances, Eddie and Michael....Tony found this on the internet and showed me today. Gosh...I am sorry to learn that Eddie is gone....he was such a positive...sweet and always smiling man. It was great knowing him...y’all...and his parents. I’m sure he will be missed by many. Contact me Frances.

My deepest condolences to all his family and friends left behind to mourn. He was always so helpful at work and made the best of every situation that was thrown his way. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences to the family. Mr. Ed was such wonderful man. When I started working at Walmart, he took me under his wing. He taught me the true meaning of teamwork. I will miss the stories he told me about his life. It was an pleasure to see him light up when he dressed up to play Santa. He can see the joy in eyes when the kids thought he was the real Santa. I miss seeing you and I know you are in an better place. Rest In Peace.

My condolences to Mr. Ed's family, he will be truly missed. Great person to be around at work he would always give me a bear hug and smile ear to ear when he saw me Rest Well Dear Friend.
