Edward C. Garner of Knotts Island, NC, passed away September 14, 2024, in Virginia Beach, VA. Born June 24, 1938, Ed met and married the love of his life, Barbara in 1958. Together they raised three children, Linda, Donna, and Eddie. Ed worked many years as a tugboat dispatcher and retired from Moran Towing. Ed was known to say, “Didn’t your captain tell you?” to the tug crews. Ed was quick-witted, and loved fishing, watching his favorite soap operas, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy.

In addition to being predeceased by his parents, Ed was also predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Barbara, and his siblings Cookie, Rose, George, Bobby, and Marion.

Left with loving and fond memories are his children, Linda Heydn, Afton, VA; Donna Garner, Knotts Island, NC; and Eddie Garner (Heather), Knotts Island, NC; 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren; siblings Walter Garner (Annemarie), Liz Douglass, and Viola Quinn and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date.
