Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through his servant Edward Sontag.
Edward William Sontag was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on November 25, 1945 to parents, August William Sontag and Esther Priebe Sontag. He was reborn as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism on December 30, 1945. On March 30, 1958 he was confirmed in the Christian faith and was fed the life-giving body and blood of Jesus. On May 15, 2025 God called Edward home to heaven. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
A graduate of Granby High School in 1964, Edward worked for and retired from United Airlines in ramp service and spent time in the Naval Reserves. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, John Sontag. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Doug, of Colorado; brothers, William Sontag (Christy) and August Sontag (Candy); sisters, Emma Studer and Martha Sontag; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church at 6001 Granby Street in Norfolk.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our lord, for our brother Edward.
