Elaine Currier, 88, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on January 15, 1935 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine to the late Ferdinand Mercier and Grace Mercier Sargent. She was a graduate of Boothbay Harbor High School.

Elaine was married to the late, Matthew David Currier, III. She enjoyed being a full-time mom and then a parochial schoolteacher. She served the church for many years. Her love for art and teaching art was a special gift. She was quite a talented artist as she mastered many art mediums. She was a generous and loving person, who tried to live a spiritual life. She was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Almeter and Bonnie Gaskins; her grandchildren, Michelle Evans, Ashley Gaskins, and Stephanie Gaskins; her great grandchildren, Trace Hardee, Addison Robins, and Graceyn Gaskins, and her extended family members.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Norfolk, 312 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, VA at 2:00pm in the Worship Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://www.alz.org/ in Elaine’s honor.
