Elanora Gail Coons passed away on January 4th, 2024 in Newport News, Virginia at the age of 72. Though she is gone from this world, Gail’s legacy lives on through her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Born in Norfolk, Gail planted deep roots and lived in the Tidewater Region for the entirety of her life. She served as a manager at Rite Aid, demonstrating a tireless work ethic on behalf of the company for over two decades. She will be remembered as an intensely loyal friend to many, with some relationships stretching back as far as her youth. Gail dedicated her life to her family and would go to any length to meet their needs, and she considered her grandchildren to be the greatest blessing of her life. Through her daughter Christy Perez and former son-in-law Victor Perez—Chrystalina, Arianna, and Mariah. Through her daughter Sarah Petrakis and son-in-law Scott Petrakis—Kayla, Matthew, and Alice. Through her daughter Annie Faulk and son-in-law Kris Faulk—Hailey, Hannah, Hilary, Hunter, Hudson, and Holden. She was also blessed with two great grandchildren through her granddaughter Hailey—Bentley and Roman.
Gail will be sorely missed, but remembered with great fondness by all that knew her in life. She loved with passion, was a devoted child of God, and had an amazing sense of humor. Gail will also be remembered for her incredible strength and resilience, particularly later in her life as she persevered through a series of health setbacks.
Per her wishes, Gail will be cremated, and the family will schedule a Celebration of Life ceremony at an upcoming date. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to everyone for their outpouring of support, love, and generosity through this difficult time.
“God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away”—Revelation 21:4
