Elizabeth Alice Heare (Smith), 74, of Culpeper, Virginia and Virginia Beach, Virginia moved on to be with her lord after an arduous battle with endometrial cancer. She passed away Friday night, May 27, 2022 at Chesapeake Regional Hospital with her daughter by her side.
Elizabeth was born December 11, 1947 in Antofagasta, Chile to Cyril Smith and Aspasia (Capetanopulos) Smith. As a child, she lived in Chile, Panama, Miami, and Washington D.C. She graduated from Santiago College in 1967.
In 1970, Elizabeth wed Lt. Commander Charles Heare in Arlington, Virginia and had two children, Sean-Paul and Samantha Heare. As a Navy wife, she lived in Newport, Rhode Island; Mayport, Florida; Charleston SC; Norfolk, VA; and England.
Throughout her life, Elizabeth had her hands in many endeavors. She ran a copper arts importing business, worked as a florist, and worked as an award winning travel agent with AAA. She also held various positions with Fairfax County Public Schools. However, none of these professions brought her as much pride as her work in the medical field. As the coordinator for the Fairfax Hospital Facial Rehabilitation and Eye Clinic, a bilingual interpreter for pregnant women in Fairfax and Culpeper, Virginia, and as a CNA at Chesapeake Regional Hospital, she found her calling helping others. Her help to Spanish speaking moms-to-be provided her great happiness and many, many godchildren.
Elizabeth was a life-long Christian, who was at her best when helping others. She loved gardening and loved nature. She was an ardent supporter of Rikki’s Refuge Animal Sanctuary in Orange, Virginia.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her father and mother. She is survived by her sisters, Frances and Mabel; her children, Sean-Paul and Samantha; her daughter-in-law Lou Ann; and her five grandchildren Chance, Scarlet, Kieran, Joscelyn, and Sean-Paul Jr. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Elizabeth did not wish to have a funeral or memorial; however, her family would like to celebrate her life with a sunset potluck picnic at Mountain Run Lake Park, Shelter #1 on J.B. Carpenter Jr. Drive in Culpeper, Virginia on June 19th, 2022 between 5-8 pm.
