Elizabeth J. Pfleger

Virginia Beach – Elizabeth Johnson Pfleger, 84, went home on January 23, 2013. She was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Johnnie and Mary Johnson. Elizabeth retired from Norfolk and Chesapeake General Hospitals and had worked at C&M Cafeteria as a hostess. She enjoyed playing the slots and bingo. She also enjoyed Nascar, Elvis, and most of all, her family. Elizabeth always has had a very strong faith. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Susan Leonard and Kimberly Lewis; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great- grandchildren; and Dianne Argus. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Ernest Pfleger; son, Thomas E. Allen, Jr.; and brother, Johnnie H. Johnson, II. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3pm, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, 212 19th St., Virginia Beach, VA 23451 with Senior Pastor Ted David officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Elizabeth’s grand-daughter’s home, 5008 Regina Ln., Virginia Beach, VA 23455. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Virginia Beach United Methodist Church Potter’s House. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the cremation. I will never forget looking forward to a birthday card and christmas card every year from mema. Then we would call her to say thank you and she always made me feel like i was her only granddaughter. I know she made all of us feel that way. She just had a way of making you feel so special and loved. Even from 1100 miles away. Please tell my daddy hi. You are always loved, remembered and missed.

I will always remember the Sunday afternoons spent at Mary Johnson's house, with Tink. sharing stories about the Flemings and Normans. Tink and I even went on a couple of bus trips to Richmond to help add to the family tree. Such fun times! Now, Tink is in Heaven and has met all those elusive ancestors! Prayers and warm thoughts to Tink's family.

I just happened to notice Elizabeth's obituary while looking for a coworker's father's obituary. I knew Elizabeth years ago and actually wrote an article on various employees, at the time, for a Sentara Newsletter or paper think it was called Network. She was one of the employees that I interviewed and wrote about and I really liked and respected her a great deal.
