She is survived by three children: Elaine Legner of Graymont, IL, Clyde Gumbert of Hampton, VA, and Carol Gumbert of Waterford, MI; two sisters: Vivian Kie and Julia Beach; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren scattered across the country.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Irene (Whitehead) Darrow of Burlington, PA, her husband Rev. Robert C Gumbert, two sisters and a brother.
Ellen grew up on a dairy farm in northern Pennsylvania and spent most of her life as a Methodist minister’s wife in western Pennsylvania.
She enjoyed singing, especially hymns and sacred anthems, crocheting, reading, and visiting with friends and family.
In lieu of flowers her family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association, alz.org, in her memory.
