Eric had a 20 year career in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Machinist Mate achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He served on several nuclear powered aircraft carriers including the USS Enterprise, USS Theodore Roosevelt and USS John F. Kennedy. Over the years, Eric earned a reputation that he could fix anything that was broken, and he made lots of friends by always trying to help anyone in need. His love of dogs and the beach were a great combination for long strolls on Virginia beaches and Long Beach Island. He had a wicked sense of humor that could make anyone laugh.
He always had a boat and was rarely seen without a fishing pole in his truck or on the back of his motorcycle. He loved riding his Triumph motorcycle with the Patriot Guard and VFW Riders supporting the military funerals of veterans.
He is survived by his wife Melissa, son Hans, daughter Brigitte, stepson Eddie Schoffstall, granddaughter Aoife, grandson Raijan, brother Ken (Becky) and sister Jeanette (Mandy) (Brian) Nagle.
