Erma Lee Williamson, widow of Paul W. Williamson, passed away peacefully in her home on January 4, 2011. She was born on November 16, 1919 in Swainsboro, Georgia and was the daughter of Lovick P. and Elena Harris Smith. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her infant son, David P. Williamson, her sister, Thelma Williamson, and her nephew, Major J. Prentice Powell. Survivors include her daughter, Victoria Worrell, and her grandsons, Michael and Matthew Worrell, of Norfolk, VA and her granddaughter, Michelle Worrell, of Virginia Beach, VA.
Mrs. Williamson was a member of Zion Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering at the church until her health would no longer permit. She retired from Sheller-Globe Corporation as a General Accounting Supervisor. After her retirement, she continued to work part-time, most recently for EAD, Inc. in Norfolk, VA. She was a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother and a true friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all of us. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. William Hovland and the staff of DePaul Hospital for the excellent care they provided during her illness and a special debt of gratitude to the nurses and staff of Medi Home Hospice for their loving care and support during her final days.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Zion Grace United Methodist Church, 1440 W. Little Creek Road, Norfolk, Virginia 23505. A reception will follow the service in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or a charity of choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cremate.org.
