Ernest M Martin, 89, died in a Virginia Beach hospital October 8, 2011. He was born November 13, 1921 in Merrimon, NC to Ernest Swindell Martin and Ethel Carraway Martin. Survivors include; two daughters Lynne Edwards and husband Mike, Linda Gagne and husband Bill, a son, Ernest Allen Martin, two brothers, Edward Martin and wife Sara, Leland Martin and wife Nettie, and a sister, Kathryn Walter and husband Dale, five grandchildren, Allison AccomandoJon, Jennifer MeierBen, Glenn EdwardsJenn, Steve EarlyToni, and David EarlyKim, and eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He spent most of his life building homes in the Hampton Roads area and was a civilian contractor during the Vietnam war. The loss of his vision was devastating to his busy life. The family would like to thank Dr. Kurtz and the nurses and staff of the Stepdown and Comfort Care units at Virginia Beach General Hospital for their compassion. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 17 at 2:00 pm at Francis Asbury Methodist Church, Virginia Beach. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cremate.org.
