Eva L. Wormley, a proud resident of Tabb, VA, peacefully answered her Lord and Savior’s call on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at 85 years old. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Eva, affectionately called “GiGi” graduated from James Weldon Johnson and retired from Eastern State Hospital after 35 years of service. She was raised in a Christian home and attended Cary’s Baptist Church in Yorktown, VA in her early years. Upon moving to Williamsburg, she joined New Quarter Baptist Church, where she served as a Missionary. She expressed her love to others through humor, reciting nursery rhymes, cooking, and baking. Ms. Wormley was well known for her cooking skills and her infamous sweet potato pie. She enjoyed many hobbies to include playing Pinochle, Solitaire, crocheting, dancing, sharing stories of her past times as a bus driver, and attending basketball games at Tabb High School. She also enjoyed traveling with her aunts, uncles and cousins. She treasured her grandchildren and shared countless special moments with her great-grandchildren who are affectionately known as “the GiGi Brats.” A socialite at heart, she loved sparking a conversation with others in the Cary’s Chapel community. She had a special way of embracing others and making them feel like family.
